I remember being four years old and going to the store with my parents and my dad was an avid consumer of CD’s in the early 2000’s. He was buying a few new ones for his collection as always when he asked me if I wanted a CD to listen to on an upcoming family trip. Being that I was four, I told him he could pick one for me and the CD he got me was Lauryn Hill’s classic “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.” I remember listening to that album and being completely in awe of her musical genius, and wanting to make someone feel the emotions Ms. Hill made a young me feel.

That album made me feel/still makes me feel liberated yet protected, it made me feel understood and represented even though the album itself has meant more to me during the various stages of my life. Ever since my exposure to that album, I expect to feel that very feeling with all music I consume and find great disappointment when I don’t. Music is such a powerful tool that can help us express ourselves, that can impact our entire moods and something that can never go obsolete in an ever changing world.
So with TheSoundsofMusic I hope to keep everyone informed regarding the best musical releases of the week, award shows, local live concerts and so much more within the realm of music. As a music lover, a singer, and a writer it’s important to me that only the highest quality projects and events are discussed on this platform. Music has the ability to transform us all, it’s up to us to allow it to.
